Better Control Processes with the HART Loop Converter
The HART Loop Converter KFD2-HLC-EX1
Modern field devices detect many other process parameters in addition to their primary process values. As a result, pressure transmitters also measure the temperature of the measuring cell to compensate for temperature drift and send this value as a HART variable.
The HART Loop Converter can detect a maximum of four digital HART variables, which are converted into analog 4...20 mA signals or limit values for the control system. Process-related parameters such as reaction-time, temperature, and the actual measured value can be determined and used selectively to control the process – with the same field cable and incurring no extra cost. If required, this signal converter can also be programmed to enable a single digital value to be an output on three analog channels via a signal splitting feature that makes the signals available to a variety of systems.
HART-compatible actuators also offer additional information that can be used for diagnostic functions such as the partial stroke test. The preset angle and the number of actuations can be retrieved.
The HART Loop Converter KFD2-HLC-EX1.D is a useful tool for monitoring individual system components or the process controller. The converter is easily configured using pushbuttons or new DTM and PC.
Application example
The HART Loop Converter reads diagnostic information from the actuator (I/P converter).
